Liver fibroscan:
The liver is one of the most important organs in the body, which can be compared to a chemical plant. The liver absorbs harmful factors of nutrients and transports them to other systems in the body without causing harm. In fact, the liver is responsible for absorbing nutrients and at the same time removing toxins, fats and dangerous substances from the body. Important causes of liver disease include viral hepatitis B & C, autoimmune hepatitis, drug side effects, alcohol consumption, obesity, sedentary lifestyle, and high blood sugar. Fatty liver is one of the most common causes of liver disease and its prevalence is increasing. It is also an important factor for liver failure and liver cancer. Accurate and timely diagnosis as well as its progression is one of the key points in controlling this disease.
A fibroscan is a non-invasive machine that determines the stiffness of the liver using ultrasound waves. Liver stiffness is measured by measuring the rate of wave production on the skin. Because connective tissue (fibrosis) is stiffer than healthy liver tissue, the degree of liver fibrosis can be determined by the stiffness of the liver. In addition, due to the non-invasive nature of the procedure, there is no pain or bleeding and no sedation is required. Also, the test takes only 5-7 minutes and is significantly cheaper than a liver biopsy (sampling of liver) and has no side effects. Finally, test results are instantaneous, so physicians can use them to make decisions during a patient visit.
Method:
The design of the machine is based on the elasticity of the liver tissue, which can reflect the waves hit the liver. This machine uses a probe to produce waves with low frequency and amplitude (ultrasound waves) with a wavelength of 50 Hz. The waves are directed into the elastic tissue of the liver and is reflected by the liver, and based on it, the degree of liver fibrosis is determined.

In nuclear medicine imaging, due to the fact that the dose of radioactive material injected is standard and very low, no complications and allergies will occur in the person. The amount of radiation received by the patient in nuclear imaging is usually very low.
This test does not require a special diet and it is enough for the patient to fast 2-3 hours before visiting and to avoid drinking water during this period.
